This afternoon marked the delivery of the first phase of the wall restoration project in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the “Santa Maria” Hospital in Terni. The work was created by Terni-based artist Lo Zoo di Simona and fully funded by the rossoverde club.
A large tree, rich with colorful leaves and heartfelt phrases, painted along the corridor and echoed in the full-term pregnancy clinic, now welcomes those entering the department. It brings color, warmth and a touch of lightness, helping to celebrate a truly unique moment in the best possible way.
The initiative is set within a healthcare context that has undergone profound evolution over the years. While up until the 1950s childbirth was often associated with high risks, today the birth pathway benefits from very high safety standards. Expectant mothers are supported at every stage, and the Terni Hospital represents a regional center of excellence, ranking first in Umbria for the number of deliveries with analgesia, allowing women to experience childbirth more serenely and without pain.
Highlighting the value of the initiative were the words of Paolo Tagliavento, CEO of Ternana Women:
“I thank Simona for this wonderful idea. When she told us about the project, we immediately did our best to help her create something beautiful. We are and will always be present. We understand the importance of births: we donate many kits to newborns and we will continue to do so.”
Strong emotion also emerged from the words of the artist Lo Zoo di Simona:
“This is only the first part. We would like to continue and intervene in other areas as well. I am fully available, but resources are needed for materials. It is a project that has received enormous support, much more than other initiatives carried out in the hospital. There has been great warmth, especially from Ternana Women, who were the very first to step in as soon as the need arose.”
A significant contribution came from Dr. Nicoletta Bruschini of the Maternal and Child Department:
“It is an initiative that brings light to a department that is already light in itself. It is beautiful and moving. Here, 99% of the time, truly wonderful events take place, and they deserve to be shared. Thanks to this artwork, they will be.”
Among those attending were Maria Rita Bruscolotti, Director of Human Resources; Dr. Federica Celi, Director of the Complex Unit of Pediatrics, Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care; Dr. Natalina Manci, Director of the Complex Unit of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Annalisa Bizzarri, anesthesiologist of the labor analgesia team; Antonella Martoni, IFOC of the delivery rooms and operating theater; Gianna Fainelli, IFOC of Obstetrics and Rooming-in; Nunzia Renifilo, IFOC of Pediatrics and NICU; Milena Eusebi (Clown VIP Terni), along with Isabella Cardone, General Manager of Ternana Women, and a large delegation from the first team.
The collaboration between Ternana Women and the “Santa Maria” Hospital is thus further strengthened. The club donates to every newborn a “Baby Fera” certificate accompanied by a personalized rossoverde kit, symbolizing the embrace of the sporting community for its youngest fans and their families.
A concrete gesture that reinforces the bond between Ternana Women, the city and its community, transforming the values of sport into actions of care, closeness and social responsibility.
