Diario di Bordo – TWISA DAY 1
Milton, Canada – August 5, 2025
Written by Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi – TWISA Brand Ambassador
Our adventure in Canada began yesterday, here in Milton, where we kicked off the first day of the TWISA camp together with our affiliate, Milton Magic Football Club. By nine in the morning, with a perfect temperature of 24 degrees, we were already on the natural grass field, ready to bring this new experience to life. Seeing a project we built with such passion take off in an international context is a feeling that fills us with pride.
On the field with me are our coaches, Lorenzo Vergani and Valentina Pompili, supported by two Milton Magic coaches who help coordinate the drills. Together, we are leading activities with more than fifty young girls, all enthusiastic, curious, and above all, attentive. There is a culture of respect and hard work that you can sense immediately. The girls arrive with their bag and their own ball inside (the one they use to play everywhere; during training they use the club’s balls), their water bottle, their snack for the break, and they line up, one by one, to greet the coaches. It may seem simple, but it says a lot.
The on-field work lasted four hours—intense and well structured. We brought our methodology here, and for the first day we focused on training Resilience (mental, physical, and technical), individual technique, duels, communication, and competition. But above all, we emphasized fun. The girls’ response was incredible. They truly enjoyed every part of the session, especially the moments when they could test themselves in the duels. At the end of training, we organized themed matches, penalty kicks, and even some chats with the youngest players. We asked them about their dreams, what they love about football, and how they are experiencing this camp. Some of them were already attending their second TWISA camp: an important sign that tells us we are leaving something meaningful behind.
We also received a visit from several local TV stations, who came to film and collect interviews. There is a lot of interest in what we are building, and this only motivates us even more.
Next to us, on the adjacent field, Lazio’s boys’ camp is taking place. Sharing spaces and days with them gives us opportunities for daily exchange. Talking about football, in the end, has neither colors nor borders. It’s a universal language.
I walked with Lorenzo while he was setting up the cones on the field and asked him what he thought about this first phase of the camp. Without stopping his step count, he told me he was happy and satisfied, but also thoughtful. “Working in such well-organized facilities makes you reflect on how, in Italy, despite the progress made in the movement, it is still difficult to find structures of this level, especially for young girls. It’s a reality we know well, but one that pushes us to do better every day.”
This is only the beginning. Yesterday was just the first day, but something beautiful and authentic has already taken shape. We brought here not only a method, but also an idea of football and growth. Seeing it come to life before our eyes, on another continent, is something unforgettable.
I want to give a special thanks to all the Milton staff, and especially to President Phil Ionadi for the warm welcome and the way he shares our vision.
Thanks also to OnePlayer, the official partner through whom the paths of Ternana Women and Milton first crossed. Every day we discover a little more about the stories, the journeys, and the people behind this collaboration.
We have a busy week ahead—full of exchanges, emotions, and, I’m sure, many small but great achievements.
See you tomorrow!
